Chrome-plated carbon steel relies on a thin, superficial surface layer that easily chips, micro-cracks during bending, and corrodes under humid interior conditions. Tube cracking during CNC rotary draw bending is primarily caused by inconsistent wall thickness, poor ductility, or improper weld seam positioning. We resolve this by using fully annealed prime raw strip (TISCO/POSCO) with controlled elongation (geared at >45%), executing in-line plasma welding with internal nitrogen shielding, and planishing the weld bead flat. Furthermore, our technical team provides precise bending radius guidance and orientates the seam to the neutral axis prior to fabrication.

For high-end decorative finishes (such as Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, or Black Titanium), the underlying tube surface must achieve a roughness rating of Ra ≤ 0.2 μm (equivalent to a 600# to 800# mirror polish) without orange peel textures or micro-scratches. Any micro-defect on the raw steel is magnified during the PVD vacuum sputtering process. We employ four-stage automated polishing lines and 100% optical inspection before PVD treatment.
